A historical park where you can feel the romance of ancient times!
Kudara-dera Temple Ruins are the remains of a temple in Hirakata City, Osaka Prefecture. Traditionally believed to have been established around 750 AD by Kudara King Keifuku, it's now a well-maintained historical park. Designated a National Historic Site in 1941 and a Special Historic Site in 1952, the site once boasted a complete temple complex. Though repeated fires destroyed most structures, foundation stones and platforms remain, allowing us to imagine the scale and structure of the temple. The surrounding area features the Kudara-o Shrine and Kudara-dera Temple Ruins Park, adding to the historical ambiance. Kudara-o Shrine is dedicated to the Kudara royal family's deity, located right next to the temple ruins. Kudara-dera Temple Ruins Park enhances the site with walking paths and open spaces. A visit to Kudara-dera Temple Ruins offers a tangible connection to ancient history, while exploring the surrounding historical sites and park provides a deeper understanding of Hirakata's history and culture.
