Overview
The Kawazu cherry blossoms of the Yodo Waterway began with local residents bringing saplings from Izu and planting them in 2002. Starting with just two saplings, now approximately 300 Kawazu cherry trees burst into bloom, filling the waterway with pink blossoms in spring.
Kawazu cherry trees are known for their early blooming, starting in early February and reaching full bloom around mid-March. This spot has garnered significant attention in recent years as the earliest place to see cherry blossoms in Kyoto City.
The cherry blossom trees lining the waterway offer a magical beauty that captivates many. These winter blossoms herald the arrival of spring, warming people's hearts and making for stunning photographs.
During cherry blossom season, food stalls appear in the surrounding area, creating a lively atmosphere. Stalls selling local specialties and delicious treats entertain cherry blossom viewers.
The Kawazu cherry blossoms of the Yodo Waterway are a precious treasure born from the enthusiasm and effort of local residents. Please come visit this beautiful cherry blossom line, where you can feel the breath of spring and forget the winter cold.
