Kisetsu-kyo, located in Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture, is a scenic spot with impressive cliffs extending for approximately 2km. It's a gorge located 7km upstream from the mouth of the Migi-Aizu River, a tributary of the Aizu River flowing through Tanabe City. Towering cliffs reaching tens of meters in height rise on both banks, dotted with various-sized unusual and massive rocks. Among them, Fudo-taki (Akagi-taki) waterfall is one of the most spectacular views in Kisetsu-kyo. You can cross a red bridge to get up close to the waterfall and even descend to the pool at the base. 100 meters above the waterfall, there is a single rock with a relief carving of Fudo Myoo (Acala), based on a painting by Dohon Impression. This creates a mystical scene where nature and faith blend seamlessly. The Kinkei Nature Trail is well-maintained around Kisetsu-kyo, making it perfect for hiking. Cherry blossoms bloom profusely in spring, and the autumn foliage is breathtakingly beautiful. Kisetsu-kyo showcases diverse beauty throughout the year, offering endless charm with each visit.
