Kiyosu Castle, located in Kiyosu City, Aichi Prefecture, is renowned as a crucial base in Owari Province, where Oda Nobunaga established his power base while aiming for national unification. Nobunaga's father, Oda Nobuhide, used Kiyosu Castle as his base to unify Owari Province. Nobunaga later inherited it, and from this castle, he secured victory in the Battle of Okehazama, significantly impacting Japanese history.
The current castle keep is a reinforced concrete replica rebuilt in 1989, designed to evoke the atmosphere of the original castle, offering a powerful and impressive sight. The view from the keep is breathtaking, extending to the cityscape of Nagoya in the distance. Inside the castle, a museum showcases Nobunaga's life and the history of Kiyosu Castle, exhibiting items related to Nobunaga and materials illustrating daily life at the time. Reconstructed tea rooms favored by Nobunaga and residences of his retainers offer a glimpse into the castle town of that era.
The surrounding area boasts Kiyosu Castle Ruins Park and Kiyosu Ancient Castle Ruins Park, providing pleasant walking areas. Kiyosu Castle Ruins Park even features a statue of Nobunaga, a delight for his fans.
Kiyosu Castle is a recommended tourist spot not only for history enthusiasts but also for families. Why not spend a wonderful time immersing yourselves in the history of Nobunaga's castle, enjoying the magnificent views?
