One of Kanagawa Prefecture's largest urban parks, offering abundant nature and diverse facilities!
Overview
Nanasawa Forest Park is one of the largest urban parks in Kanagawa Prefecture, spanning approximately 65 hectares at the eastern foot of the Tanzawa mountain range, known as the "roof of Kanagawa." Developed from land once used by local residents as a satoyama (village forest), the park preserves its rich natural environment.
The park features diverse flora and fauna, including deciduous forests, streams, and ponds. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery throughout the year, from cherry blossoms in spring and fresh greenery in summer to vibrant autumn foliage. Various facilities are also available, including the Mori no Minwa-kan (Forest Folk Tale Museum), an outdoor stage, an observation deck, an athletic course, and BBQ areas.
Particularly popular is "Nanasawa no Oka," an observation hill offering panoramic views of the Nanasawa area, the eastern Tanzawa Mountains, and the Oyama area. From this vantage point, you can admire the magnificent Tanzawa mountain range. The park also features the Mori no Minwa-kan, preserving the atmosphere of a mountain village where agriculture and forestry once thrived, showcasing farming tools, household implements, and folk tale videos.
Nanasawa Forest Park is a highly recommended park for relaxation and rejuvenation. Enjoy activities such as hiking, walking, barbecuing, and nature observation. Be sure to visit!
