Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine is steeped in history, culture, and deep-rooted faith, offering a diverse range of attractions to its visitors. We highly encourage you to visit!
Tomioka Hachiman Shrine, located in Tomioka, Koto-ku, Tokyo, is also known as "Fukagawa Hachiman Shrine." During the Edo period, it received generous protection from the Tokugawa shogunate, who deeply revered Hachiman-ōkami, the guardian deity of the Minamoto clan. At the time of the Meiji Restoration, the Imperial Court designated the shrine as a Jun-chokusaisha (quasi-Imperial shrine), sending imperial messengers and bestowing offerings to pray for the prosperity of the new era. The devotion of the common people has continued unbroken from the Edo period to the present day, with constant visits from worshippers. The monthly festivals on the 1st, 15th, and 28th are particularly lively.
