Sosho Park, situated on a hilltop in Nanyo City, Yamagata Prefecture, boasts stunning views of the Oitama Basin. The park features the "Imose no Matsu," a designated natural monument of Yamagata Prefecture, and in spring, the weeping cherry blossoms, "Keikai Sakura" and "Nagami Sakura," paint the park in a vibrant pink. "Keikai Sakura," named after an old place name, is a magnificent tree over 150 years old. "Nagami Sakura" is named for its commanding view of Nanyo City. Both are truly impressive sights. The Sosho Rose Garden, opened in 1967, covers 8,000 square meters and features 6,000 rose bushes of 340 varieties, creating a romantic atmosphere filled with the fragrance of roses. A rose festival is held annually from late May to early June, offering rose seedlings, goods, and musical performances. Sosho Park is a truly relaxing space where you can connect with nature and unwind. We encourage you to visit!
