A breathtaking spectacle of approximately 3,000 winter sweet blossoms, capturing the essence of early spring!
The Nagatoro Hodosan Winter Sweet Garden is a tourist spot located near the summit of Mount Hodosan (497m above sea level) in Nagatoro-machi, Chichibu District, Saitama Prefecture. From late December to late February, approximately 800 plants (about 3,000 blossoms) of winter sweet burst into bloom, filling the air with a sweet fragrance. Winter sweet, a deciduous shrub native to China, produces yellow flowers resembling plum blossoms. In this garden, you can see three varieties of winter sweet: early, middle, and late blooming. The winter sweet flowers, standing tall and beautiful even in the cold, offer a warmth that makes you forget the winter chill. The garden also offers a commanding view of Chichibu's cityscape and majestic mountains, including Mount Buzō and Ryōshinzan. Boasting one of the finest views in the Kanto region, on a clear day, you can see far-off mountains. You can leisurely enjoy the stunning scenery while enveloped in the sweet aroma of winter sweet.
