Based on information from the park's official website, Kokusai Jūō Kotsu's official website (PDF), and Kawagoe Sightseeing Bus's official website.
From Shinrin Kōen Station on the Tobu Tojo Line:
Kawagoe Sightseeing Bus: Take the Mori 01 line from platform 2 bound for Shinrin Kōen Minami-guchi (south entrance). This is a direct bus and operates only on weekends and holidays.
Kokusai Jūō Bus: Take the RU02 line (bound for Rissho University) or RU01 line (bound for Kumagai Station South Exit) from platform 1 and get off at "Namegawa Chūgakkō-mae" (a 5-minute walk from the south entrance). If using the west entrance, get off at "Shinrin Kōen Nishi-guchi".
Regarding using the south entrance via Kokusai Jūō Bus, the "Shinrin Kōen Minami-guchi Iriguchi" bus stop is relatively far from the park and requires crossing an intersection without a traffic signal, even though it's located under an overpass. Therefore, using the "Namegawa Chūgakkō-mae" bus stop is recommended as it is closer and provides a safer crossing via a pedestrian bridge. For the return trip from the south entrance to Shinrin Kōen Station, "Shinrin Kōen Minami-guchi Iriguchi" is recommended as it's right in front of the dedicated pedestrian exit from the south entrance.
From Kumagai Station (JR Joetsu Shinkansen, Hokuriku Shinkansen, Takasaki Line):
Kokusai Jūō Bus: Take the RU01 line (bound for Shinrin Kōen Station) from the south exit and get off at "Shinrin Kōen Nishi-guchi" (west entrance) or "Shinrin Kōen Minami-guchi Iriguchi" (south entrance).
Previously, some buses on the Kokusai Jūō Kotsu KM11 line connecting Kumagai Station (North Exit, platform 1) and Higashimatsuyama Station (East Exit, platform 2) used to stop at the "Shinrin Kōen Kita-guchi" bus stop in front of the north gate. However, this stop is no longer served. While there is a bus stop called "Shinrin Kōen Kita-guchi Iriguchi" along National Route 407, it's about a 10-minute walk to the north gate, so it's not recommended. Show route

Kokuritsu Musashi-Kyuryo Shinrin Kōen is a sprawling national park straddling Namegawa-machi, Hiki-gun, and Kumagai City, Saitama Prefecture. Opened in 1974, it was developed as part of the national Meiji Centennial Commemorative Project. The park consists of three areas: the South Area (Satoyama area), the Central Area (Green and Play area), and the North Area (Forest area).
A roughly 17km cycling course winds through the park, allowing you to enjoy the lush greenery. Well-maintained hiking trails offer opportunities for relaxing strolls and forest bathing.
The park offers beautiful scenery throughout the year, with cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring, verdant trees in summer, and vibrant autumn leaves. Summer is particularly spectacular, with around 10,000 yamayuri (Japanese lilies) in full bloom. BBQ areas and campsites cater to outdoor enthusiasts.
With playgrounds for children and events for adults, the park is perfect for a family day out.
Kokuritsu Musashi-Kyuryo Shinrin Kōen is a highly recommended spot to escape the urban hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature, and revitalize your mind and body.
