An urban oasis where rich nature and history harmonize.
Overview
Higashi Takane Forest Park is a prefectural urban park in Miyamae-ku, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, boasting abundant natural beauty.
Within the park are the "Higashi Takane Ruins," an ancient settlement site, and a shira-kashi (Quercus myrsinifolia) forest with trees estimated to be 150-200 years old. Both are designated as historical sites and natural monuments by Kanagawa Prefecture.
The area known as the "Ancient Grassland Square" has yielded approximately 60 pit dwelling sites, food storage pits, and shell middens, offering a glimpse into the lives of people who once lived there.
The shira-kashi forest is a precious remaining area of near-natural forest in the midst of modern urban development.
In addition to the Ancient Grassland Square and shira-kashi forest, the park features picnic areas, walking trails, a children's playground, a wetland garden, and more.
Enjoy beautiful seasonal scenery, including cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall.
It's a charming park where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city, connect with nature, and experience history.
