The Gotoh Museum houses the art collection of Keita Gotoh, founder of the Tokyu Group. From a young age, Mr. Gotoh cultivated an interest in art, becoming a passionate collector in his later years. The museum's collection features Chinese and Japanese paintings, ceramics, calligraphy, and more. Highlights include the National Treasures, "The Tale of Genji Scroll" and "The Diary of Murasaki Shikibu Scroll," attracting significant attention from art enthusiasts.
A beautiful, verdant garden adjoins the museum, offering stunning seasonal views. Mr. Gotoh himself designated a portion of the land for its creation. Featuring ponds, waterfalls, and rock formations, the garden harmoniously blends nature and artistry. Admission to the museum and gardens closes at 4:30 PM. The garden's opening days and hours are the same as the museum's. However, they may be changed depending on weather conditions, sunset, etc., and entry may be restricted. Please be aware of your footing as the garden contains steep slopes, uneven terrain, steps, and ponds (maximum elevation difference: 35m).
