Rediscover your playful side and spark your creativity by interacting with nostalgic karakuri ningyo!
The Nara Machi Karakuri Toy Museum is housed in the former Matsuya family residence, generously donated to revitalize Nara Machi and promote Nara City tourism. The karakuri ningyo are a gift from Michitaka Kamada, Professor Emeritus at Nara University. The museum features a permanent collection of karakuri ningyo within the charming setting of a Nara Machi townhouse. Visitors are welcome to freely interact with the toys. The friendly staff are happy to explain how they work and their origins. Additionally, the museum holds a "Karakuri Ningyo Making Workshop" once a month, offering a hands-on experience in creating your own mechanical toy. These nostalgic karakuri ningyo offer enjoyment for people of all ages. We invite you to visit!
