Overview

Kongōshō-ji Temple is a Shingon Buddhist temple located in Kameyama City, Mie Prefecture. It's famous for its three-storied pagoda, built during the Muromachi period and designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan. This wooden, three-story pagoda stands approximately 16 meters tall. The interior is adorned with Buddhist statues and paintings, captivating visitors with its beauty. Beyond the pagoda, the temple grounds boast numerous historic structures, including the main hall and bell tower. The main hall, also from the Muromachi period, is a two-story wooden building with a magnificent interior decorated with gold leaf. The bell tower, built in the Edo period, is a two-story wooden structure. Its bell tolls at 6 am every morning, echoing through the city of Kameyama. Kongōshō-ji Temple offers stunning seasonal views, with cherry blossoms in spring and vibrant autumn foliage. In spring, the temple grounds are ablaze with cherry blossoms, creating a breathtaking spectacle. In autumn, the trees don their autumn colors, painting the landscape in shades of red and gold.
