Isshin-ji Temple is a temple in Oita City, Oita Prefecture, renowned for its stunning cherry blossoms. Established in 1963, it boasts approximately 1,000 double cherry blossom trees across its expansive 20,000-tsubo grounds (approximately 66,000 square meters). These double cherry blossoms, reaching their peak bloom around mid-April, offer an especially beautiful view from the mountain path, often described as a "sea of cherry blossoms." It's a spectacular spot to enjoy cherry blossoms after the Someiyoshino cherry blossoms have finished, attracting many visitors.
The cherry blossoms at Isshin-ji Temple are not Someiyoshino but double cherry blossoms (Botanzakura), characterized by their many overlapping petals. This is why they bloom later than Someiyoshino, typically from mid- to late April.
Beyond the cherry blossoms, Isshin-ji Temple offers a peaceful and serene atmosphere. The temple grounds include a main hall, bell tower, and other structures, inviting visitors to take a leisurely stroll. Various events may also be held during cherry blossom season.
Isshin-ji Temple captivates visitors not only with its cherry blossom beauty but also with its tranquil ambiance, offering a relaxing space for peace and contemplation.
