Tojiin Temple was originally founded in 1233 during the early Kamakura period by Ashikaga Yoshiuji. It was later rebuilt by Ashikaga Yoshimitsu during the Muromachi period, only to be burned down by Oda Nobunaga during the Sengoku period. The current Butsuden (main hall), rebuilt by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, is a designated National Treasure. Known as a masterpiece of Karayo architecture, its majestic presence is awe-inspiring. Inside, you'll find numerous Buddhist statues and paintings, including a Shaka Nyorai (Shakyamuni Buddha) statue.
