Climbing Mount Miwa is physically demanding, so please check your physical condition beforehand and wear appropriate clothing and shoes. While the mountain trails are well-maintained, some sections are quite steep, so please proceed with caution. There are very few rest areas or restrooms along the mountain trails, so it's recommended to prepare accordingly. Pets are not allowed. It's recommended to visit Mount Miwa in the morning. The afternoon sun can be quite strong and hot. Please drink plenty of water before your climb and take frequent breaks.
Oiwa Jinja Shrine is located in Hitachi City, Ibaraki Prefecture, nestled on Mt. Oiwa, considered the oldest sacred mountain in Hitachi Province. Mt. Oiwa, standing at 530 meters, has been an object of faith since ancient times. Atop the mountain once stood a Shugendo training hall, where many yamabushi (mountain ascetics) practiced.
