One of Japan's oldest shrines, boasting over 2,000 years of history. It's revered as the "god of guidance," bringing peace and happiness.
Tsubaki Taisha Shrine is located in Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture, and is said to have been founded during the reign of Emperor Suinin over 2,000 years ago. Since ancient times, it has been revered as the head shrine of all shrines dedicated to Sarutahiko Ōkami, the "god of guidance" who brings peace and happiness. Many worshippers visit from all over Japan. The shrine grounds are surrounded by lush nature, with a sacred atmosphere of tranquility that offers a place for both physical and mental rejuvenation. Highlights include the main hall, designated as an Important Cultural Property, as well as the shrines dedicated to Sarutahiko Ōkami, Amenouzume-no-mikoto (at Tsubakigishi Shrine), and Konohanasakuya-hime (at Kogishi Taisha Shrine). The shrine also features Takayama Nyūdōga-take, a popular power spot. Takayama Nyūdōga-take is a mountain approximately 570 meters above sea level. At its summit lies the Okunomiya (inner shrine), offering breathtaking views. Various festivals are held throughout the year at Tsubaki Taisha Shrine. The Spring Grand Festival in April features a performance of the "Udzume" Noh play from the Kyoto Kongo-ryu school. The "Shishigami Gokitō Shinji" (Lion God Prayer Ceremony), held from February 11th to April 12th, is a large-scale ceremony performed every three years, featuring lion dances.
