A breathtaking poppy field with approximately 1 million poppies in full bloom!
Taiyo no Oka Engaru Park is a sprawling park located in Tomamae-cho, Tomamae-gun, Hokkaido, nestled on a hill overlooking the majestic Sea of Japan. The park's biggest draw is undoubtedly the approximately 1 million poppies that bloom from late May to early June. The entire hillside is covered in vibrant red, orange, and yellow poppies, creating a scene that's like something out of a painting. The poppy field is located in the central part of the park, and viewing it from the observation deck is truly awe-inspiring. There are also well-maintained walking paths that wind through the poppy field, allowing you to get up close and personal with these stunning blooms. During poppy season, the park is bustling with visitors. Beyond the poppies, you can also enjoy a variety of seasonal flowers. From tulips and canola flowers in spring, to sunflowers and cosmos in summer, and salvia and kochia in autumn – there's something to see year-round. The park also features an observation deck offering panoramic views of the Sea of Japan, Rishiri Fuji (Mount Rishiri), Teuri Island, and Yagishiri Island. The sunset over the Sea of Japan from the observation deck is particularly beautiful, with the sky and sea painted in breathtaking shades of orange at dusk.
