Overview

Shurijo Castle Park is located in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, centered around the ruins of Shurijo Castle. This castle, which flourished as the political and cultural center of the Ryukyu Kingdom, was destroyed in the Battle of Okinawa in 1945. Restoration work began in 1992, and the main hall was rebuilt in 2000. Shurijo Castle Park is a popular sightseeing spot where you can experience Okinawan history and culture, not only through the castle ruins but also through Ryukyu Kingdom-era buildings, gardens, and historical sites within the park.
