A park where you can experience history and nature, featuring the majestic Peace Tower and a Haniwa Garden.
Heiwa Dai Park is a large urban park located in the hilly area of Shimokitagatamachi, Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture. It's managed by Park Management Miyazaki, along with Miyazaki Prefectural Comprehensive Cultural Park. It's easily accessible thanks to its Miyazaki Kotsu bus connection. The park's symbol is undoubtedly the Peace Tower, a breathtaking 37-meter-tall structure. From the observation deck, you can enjoy stunning panoramic views of Miyazaki city. Originally built in 1940 as the "Hakko no Kiso Chu" (Eight Corners Pillar), it was renamed the Peace Tower by GHQ after World War II. The tower's front features an inscription of "Hakko Ichiu" (all under one roof) by Prince Yasuhito Chichibu, and four corner statues representing the unity and progress of the people. The park also boasts a Haniwa Garden, showcasing approximately 400 replica haniwa (clay figurines), offering a glimpse into ancient Japanese history. Other amenities include a sports field, a rest house, a babbling brook, and nature trails, making it a fun place for people of all ages. Enjoy the beautiful scenery throughout the year, with cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall. It serves as a relaxing spot for locals and is a beloved destination for tourists. This park, representing the history and nature of Miyazaki, is a must-see.
