Overview
The Osaka Municipal Museum of Housing and Living "Osaka Kurashi no Konjyakukan" is a museum where you can realistically experience the daily life of Osaka from the Edo period to the Showa era. On the 9th floor, a Tenpo-era Osaka townscape is recreated in full scale. Traditional townhouses and merchant houses line the streets, and you can even wander through the back alleys. Buildings, furniture, and tools are faithfully reproduced, allowing you to truly experience the daily life of the time. The 10th floor showcases the lives of Osaka citizens during the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa eras through meticulously crafted models and videos. Learn about the changes in housing, townscapes, and lifestyles through these visual aids. Exhibits also include period documents and photographs, providing further insight into the lives of the people. Seasonal events and workshops are also held, making it an enjoyable museum for both adults and children.
