The awe-inspiring sight of countless vermillion torii gates forming a mystical pathway!
Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, located in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto, is the head shrine of Inari shrines. Inariyama mountain itself constitutes the shrine grounds, covering an area equivalent to about 25 Tokyo Domes. Founded in 711 (Wado 4), it boasts a history spanning approximately 1300 years. Originally, the deity enshrined resided on Inariyama before being moved to its present location. Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine is believed to bestow various blessings, including bountiful harvests, business prosperity, family safety, and protection from evil. Therefore, it has been revered by countless people for centuries. The shrine grounds are lined with countless vermillion torii gates of various sizes, with the number estimated to be over 10,000. These torii gates were donated by worshippers, each imbued with their wishes. The pathway formed by the vermillion torii gates exudes a mystical and enchanting atmosphere. The "Senbon Torii" (Thousand Torii Gates) located atop the mountain is particularly popular among tourists due to its grandeur. The Senbon Torii creates a seemingly endless tunnel of red, captivating visitors with its mystical beauty. Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine is also renowned as a power spot. Many spiritually significant places exist within the grounds. For example, the "Omokaru Ishi" (weight-guessing stone) on the path to the inner shrine is a popular power spot where people test their wishes. If the stone feels heavy, their wish is said to be granted. Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine is a place where history, faith, and mystical landscapes converge, offering visitors a truly unique experience.
