A museum designed by I.M. Pei. It holds special exhibitions of ancient art and antiques, and the architecture itself is worth seeing.
Overview
MIHO MUSEUM, designed by world-renowned architect I.M. Pei, is a museum whose magnificent architecture deeply moves visitors. Designed to blend seamlessly with nature, the museum feels like a different world emerging from the mountains. Its collection of ancient art is world-class, allowing visitors to appreciate precious relics and artifacts from various civilizations, including ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, and China. The collection of Eastern art is particularly notable, featuring Buddhist statues, paintings, calligraphy, and more, offering a journey through history and culture. The approach to the museum is also enchanting. The journey from the reception building, through a cherry blossom-lined path, through a tunnel, and finally across a suspension bridge to the exhibition hall feels like an adventure. The museum is surrounded by the lush mountains of Shigaraki, offering breathtaking views. MIHO MUSEUM is truly a sublime space where art, nature, and history converge.
