Toyokawa Inari is a Soto Zen Buddhist temple located in Toyokawa City, Aichi Prefecture. Formally known as Toyokawa-kaku Myoken-ji Temple, it was founded in 1441. Long revered for its blessings of business prosperity and household safety, Toyokawa Inari has drawn devoted followers for centuries. Numbered among Japan's Three Great Inari Shrines, it welcomes countless visitors every year. Its symbol is a magnificent vermillion torii gate. Beyond this gate lies its expansive grounds, featuring the main hall, a shrine dedicated to Toyokawa Dakini Shinten (豊川吒枳尼真天), and numerous fox statues – all captivating sights. The main hall, dating back to the temple's founding, is designated an Important Cultural Property and houses the principal image of Senju Kannon. The shrine dedicated to Toyokawa Dakini Shinten is vibrantly painted in vermillion and serves as the guardian deity of Toyokawa Inari. The grounds are dotted with numerous fox statues, as foxes are considered messengers of the Inari deity. Toyokawa Inari is also famed as a power spot, where visitors can sense sacred energy throughout the grounds. When visiting, take your time to explore the grounds and experience its mystical ambiance.
