A tranquil oasis in the heart of the city. Enjoy the natural beauty of seasonal flowers, artificial hills, ponds, and waterfalls.
Shiratori Garden is a traditional Japanese garden located in Atsuta Ward, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, boasting one of the largest scales in the Tokai region. Developed between 1983 and 1991, it opened in 1989 as the 'Japanese Garden' pavilion for the World Design Exposition. This pond-style strolling garden centers around a large pond, and its design is inspired by the topography of the Chubu region. An artificial hill represents Mount Ontake, and rivers flowing from it are modeled after the Kiso River, with the central and surrounding ponds representing Ise Bay, creating a magnificent representation of nature's grandeur. The garden features 'Kiyoha Tei,' an authentic Sukiya-style teahouse, frequently used for tea ceremonies. You can also enjoy matcha and Japanese sweets at 'Shioiri Tei' while overlooking the garden. Shiratori Garden is a precious place where you can experience nature's embrace within the city. Its beautiful scenery changes throughout the four seasons, offering a fresh experience every visit. The cherry blossoms in spring, the lush greenery in summer, the vibrant autumn leaves, and the snowy landscape in winter are must-sees. Well-maintained walking paths invite leisurely strolls. Shiratori Garden is a highly recommended spot for relaxation and rejuvenation.
