Higashiyama Sky Tower, opened in 1989 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Nagoya's cityhood, is an observation tower standing 134.0 meters tall (214.0 meters above sea level). From its vantage point, you can enjoy a 360-degree view of Nagoya's cityscape.
From the observation deck, you can see iconic landmarks such as Nagoya Castle, Nagoya TV Tower, and Nagoya Dome. On a clear day, you can even see distant mountains and the ocean.
At night, the city lights twinkle brilliantly, offering a magical and enchanting nightscape. With no tall buildings obstructing the view, you can enjoy an expansive and unobstructed view of the city lights.
Higashiyama Sky Tower is known as one of Japan's premier night view spots, and was selected as a "Night View Heritage of Japan" in 2004.
The tower also serves as a relay station for disaster prevention radio, equipped with 14 parabolic antennas and a radio equipment room. High-altitude surveillance cameras are also installed, playing a crucial role in Nagoya's disaster prevention efforts.
Besides the observation deck, the tower offers a restaurant on the 7th floor and an observation deck on the 5th floor, providing diverse ways to enjoy your visit.
Located within Higashiyama Park, it's highly recommended to visit the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens as well.
Higashiyama Sky Tower is a beloved and popular spot for many visitors to Nagoya.
