A beautiful park where history and nature harmonize, bursting with cherry blossoms in spring.
Sunpu Castle Park is a park developed on the site of Sunpu Castle, where Tokugawa Ieyasu spent his later years after he retired as Shogun in 1585. The expansive grounds feature restored structures such as the Higashi-Otemon Gate and the Tatsumiya Turret, preserving the atmosphere of the castle. In spring, approximately 100 cherry trees blossom, creating a breathtaking scene. During the cherry blossom season, night cherry blossom events are held, and the illuminated castle ruins create a magical atmosphere. The park also boasts many historical spots, including a statue of Ieyasu and a mandarin orange tree said to have been planted by him. With grassy areas and walking paths, it's perfect for strolling and picnics. Sunpu Castle Park is recommended for history buffs and nature lovers alike. Its convenient location within walking distance of Shizuoka Station is another attractive feature. Be sure to visit!
