The Venus Line is a approximately 76km scenic drive running north-south through the central part of Nagano Prefecture. From Chino City to the Miharadaikogen Art Museum in Ueda City, it winds through highlands at elevations ranging from 1,400m to 1,900m, offering diverse and captivating scenery.
The Venus Line's name is said to derive from the goddess-like appearance of Mount Tateshina, visible from the road.
In spring, the fresh greenery emerging after the snowmelt is a gentle sight, dyeing the plateau a vibrant green.
Summer brings a riot of wildflowers, with the spectacle of blooming Nikko daylilies in July on the Kusasenri Plateau being particularly impressive.
Autumn paints the mountains with vibrant colors, with the high-altitude Miharadaikogen Plateau displaying a magnificent array of red and yellow foliage.
Winter's snow transforms the landscape into a world of serenity, and the contrast between the snow-covered Kusasenri Plateau and the clear sky is especially beautiful.
Along the Venus Line, you'll find various attractions such as Tateshina Kogen, Shirakaba Lake, Kurumayama Kogen, Kusasenri Plateau, Yashimagahara Marshland, and Miharadaikogen Plateau, each offering unique and breathtaking scenery.
