Japan's largest automobile museum! Approximately 500 precious vehicles are on display.
Overview
The Japan Automobile Museum, opened in 1978 (Showa 53) in Oyabe City, Toyama Prefecture, was the first automobile museum in Japan. The founder, Shozo Maeda, regretted the disposability of practical cars during the period of high economic growth and began collecting them. It then relocated to Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture in 1995 (Heisei 7), where it remains today.
The museum displays approximately 500 automobiles collected from around the world. Among them are many precious vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce once driven by Princess Diana and actual cars that appeared in films and anime. The museum also features a collection of toilets from around the world, which visitors can actually use.
The Japan Automobile Museum is not only a place to learn about the history and culture of automobiles but also an experiential museum where you can touch and even drive some of the cars. It's enjoyable for both adults and children, making it a great destination for families.
