A must-see for aviation enthusiasts! An aviation museum showcasing 17 real aircraft.
The Ishikawa Prefectural Aviation Plaza, located north of Komatsu Airfield, is the only aviation museum on the Sea of Japan coast. It clearly explains the history of aircraft from their inception to the present day, and the development of aerospace technology using real aircraft, models, diagrams, and other materials. The outdoor exhibition area features 17 valuable real aircraft, including the Maritime Self-Defense Force's HSS-2B anti-submarine helicopter and KM-2, and the Air Self-Defense Force's F-104J Starfighter, T-33A, and T-2 Blue Impulse. Some aircraft even allow you to sit inside and take photos – guaranteed to excite both children and adults! The indoor exhibition area features detailed explanations of aircraft history and structure, as well as various models, panels, and videos related to aircraft. The "Booon Bun World" children's play area features "Tobuuun," one of Japan's largest airplane-shaped playground equipment, where children can feel like they're flying. Additionally, the museum houses a simulator of a YS-11, actually used by All Nippon Airways, and an air traffic control simulator, offering a chance to experience actual operation (fee applies). These simulators provide a realistic experience of piloting a real aircraft, making it enjoyable for both adults and children. The Ishikawa Prefectural Aviation Plaza is a recommended spot for aviation fans and families with children. Be sure to stop by when visiting Komatsu Airport.
