Overview
Kawasaki City Japanese Folk House Garden is one of Japan's largest open-air museums, preserving and showcasing valuable traditional houses from the Edo period to the early Showa period. Houses from various regions across Tohoku and Kanto are relocated here, offering a glimpse into the daily life and culture of the time. You can see the architectural and lifestyle differences between regions, including snow country farmhouses, post town houses, and fishermen's houses. Each house displays period tools and implements, bringing the past to life. The garden also features a watermill, a rural Kabuki float, and other structures that further illustrate daily life. Exploring these buildings provides a deeper understanding of life in the past.
