Overview

Suitengu Shrine, located in Nihonbashi Kakigaracho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, is a branch shrine of Kurume Suitengu Shrine in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Since the Edo period, it has been deeply revered as the deity "Osuitensama" for safe childbirth and blessing with children, making it one of the most popular shrines in Tokyo. Directly connected to Suitengu-mae Station on the subway, it's easily accessible. The shrine grounds are always bustling with people offering prayers for safe childbirth and children, as well as couples giving thanks after a safe delivery. Suitengu Shrine was originally located within the Edo residence of the Kurume Domain lord, who deeply revered the shrine and allowed public access. During the Meiji era, it was relocated to Akasaka following the move of the residence, before eventually settling in its current location in Nihonbashi Kakigaracho. Today, the shrine boasts earthquake-resistant construction throughout the grounds, including the shrine building, pathways, and corridors, ensuring a comfortable and safe visit with modern amenities.
