Sunshine 60 Building is a landmark high-rise building in Ikebukuro with an observation deck offering panoramic views of Tokyo's cityscape.
Sunshine 60 Building, a 60-story high-rise building opened in 1978, stands 239.7 meters tall. Upon its completion, it garnered significant attention as the tallest building in East Asia. Developed primarily by the Seibu Group, Sunshine 60 Building forms a city within a city with its adjacent Sunshine City complex. Sunshine City boasts a diverse range of facilities, including the Sunshine Aquarium, Sunshine City Prince Hotel, the Alpa shopping center, and a cultural center, offering a full day of entertainment. The observation deck on the 60th floor reaches 226.3 meters in height, with a sea-level altitude of 269.8 meters, making it the highest indoor observation deck in Tokyo. It even surpassed the Tokyo Tower's special observation deck (223.55 meters above ground) and was the highest in Tokyo before the completion of the Tokyo Skytree. Although it underwent renovations and closures (May 7, 2015 - April 21, 2016; October 2, 2022 - April 18, 2023), reopening as "Sky Circus Sunshine 60 Observatory" and later as "Sunshine 60 Observatory Tenbo Park," the observation deck continues to offer stunning views and exciting events.
