The Meiji Centennial Memorial Observation Tower is an observation tower located at the tip of Futtsu Cape in Futtsu City, Chiba Prefecture, standing at an elevation of 21.8 meters. Its unique design, resembling a five-needle pine tree, was completed in 1971. From the tower, you can enjoy panoramic views of Tokyo Bay, the opposite coast, and the Boso Hills. On a clear day, you can even see Mount Fuji in the distance. The beautiful sunsets also attract many tourists. Futtsu Cape has flourished as a center for fishing and salt production since ancient times and remains a popular tourist spot. Around the observation tower, you'll find many nature-rich attractions, including Futtsu Park and Futtsu Coast. Access to the observation tower is by car or public transportation. By car, it's about a 20-minute drive from the Kyonan-Minami IC of the Tateyama Expressway, going straight on National Route 16, and then taking County Road 255 towards the tip of the cape. By public transportation, take the JR Uchibō Line to Aobori Station, then take the bus to Futtsu Park and walk about 20 minutes from the terminal. From the observation tower, you can enjoy the magnificent view of Tokyo Bay, and on clear days, Mount Fuji. The sunsets are breathtakingly beautiful, offering a romantic atmosphere.
