Overview

Yakurai Garden, located in Kamimachi, Kami-gun, Miyagi Prefecture, is a vast garden covering 150,000 square meters – more than three times the size of the Tokyo Dome! Home to 400 different types of plants, it opened in 1997 and is a beloved part of the Yakurai Resort, which also includes a golf course, cottages, and an indoor pool. The grounds are divided into eight themed gardens, including a rose garden, a herb garden, and Fururu no Oka (Fururu Hill), each showcasing a unique array of blossoms. Spring brings a delightful explosion of cherry blossoms, tulips, and sweet peas. Early summer bursts with roses and hydrangeas. Summer sees sunflowers and salvias basking in the sunlight, while autumn paints the garden with cosmos and vibrant autumn foliage. Winter offers a serene beauty, with plants standing strong against the snowy landscape. Beyond the stunning floral displays, Yakurai Garden hosts seasonal events, offering diverse experiences throughout the year. These include the spring Tulip Festival, the summer Sunflower Festival, and the autumn illumination of the autumn leaves.
