Hillside Terrace is a mixed-use complex of residential buildings, shops, and offices located along the old Yamanote-dori street in Sarugakucho and Hachimancho, Shibuya-ku. Designed by architect Fumihiko Maki (Anex designed by Makoto Motokura), it's one of his masterpieces. Construction spanned 30 years, from the completion of the first phase in 1969 to 1998. The Embassy of Denmark (completed in 1979), adjacent to Buildings D and E, was also designed by Maki. Hillside Terrace is known as an iconic architectural ensemble symbolizing Daikanyama's cityscape. Its unique architectural design and sophisticated atmosphere are particularly appealing.
