The Hida-Mino Seseragi Kaido is the affectionate name for a roughly 64-kilometer road stretching from Jonan-cho, Gujo-hachiman City, Gifu Prefecture, through the Akebono region of Gujo City, to Mikkacho, Kiyomi-cho, Takayama City. Running north-south through the Hida region of northern Gifu Prefecture, this route connects Takayama city to Gujo city, crossing the Nishiure Pass, the watershed between the Pacific and Sea of Japan. It comprises sections of Gifu Prefectural Road 73 (Takayama Kiyomi Line), National Route 257, National Route 472, and National Route 256. This mountainous road boasts an elevation difference of approximately 700 meters, winding through the forested hills of the Hida Highlands, alongside various rivers and streams. Numerous breathtaking natural spots, including Nishiure Pass and Sakamoto Pass, offer spectacular views. Especially during autumn, the mountain slopes erupt in a vibrant display of reds and yellows. Rest stops, onsen (hot springs), and restaurants are conveniently located along the way, making it perfect for a relaxing drive.
