Mount Koubou has been a site of religious devotion since the Edo period, known as a mountain where Kobo Daishi (a revered Buddhist monk) was enshrined. The planting of cherry trees by the Daikon Village Youth Group to commemorate Japan's victory in the Russo-Japanese War cemented its reputation as a cherry blossom spot. Today, it's recognized as one of Kanagawa's Top 50 Scenic Spots, one of Kanagawa's Top 100 Flower Viewing Spots, and one of Kanagawa's Top 50 Birdwatching Spots.
