Unebiyama is a mountain located in the southern part of the Nara Basin, known as one of the Yamato Sanzan, along with Tenpakusan and Miminashiyama. At 198.8 meters, it's the highest of the three. Atop the mountain once stood Unebiyama-jinja Shrine. Unebiyama has long been revered as a sacred mountain and is said to have been the site of Emperor Jimmu's palace. Kashihara-jingu Shrine, which enshrines the imperial spirit of Emperor Jimmu, stands there today. From the summit, you can enjoy panoramic views of Tenpakusan, Miminashiyama, Wakakusayama, and the surrounding area. At the foot of the mountain lie the towns of Kashihara and Yamato-koriyama, offering a blend of history and nature.
