The Kegonoyama Observatory sits atop Mount Kegonoyama at an elevation of 550 meters in Nanae-cho. Known as a breathtaking spot offering panoramic views of Mount Hakodate, Lake Onuma, and the Tsugaru Strait, it's especially captivating at sunset, when the sky and sea are painted in stunning shades of orange. From the observatory, you can see Hakodate city, Onuma Quasi-National Park, and even the islands of the Tsugaru Strait in the distance. The 360-degree panoramic view of the majestic nature is truly exceptional. Nearby is the Nanae-cho operated Jodaiboku Ranch, where you can see cows peacefully grazing. Taking a stroll through the ranch and interacting with the cows is highly recommended. Adjacent to the observatory, you'll find a rest area with restrooms and vending machines, making it a perfect stop for a break during a drive or motorcycle tour.
