A historic building with distinguished history, built in the Meiji era as a royal family retreat.
Hinjitsukan was built in 1887 (Meiji 20) by the Shin'enkai Foundation as a rest and lodging facility for guests visiting Ise Grand Shrine. It was reportedly built in a remarkably short period, from December 1886 to February 1887, to coincide with Empress Shoken's visit to Ise. From 1911 to 1999, it served as an annex to the neighboring Futamikan Hotel. Currently, the interior is open to the public for a fee and is also used as a rental exhibition hall. Hinjitsukan showcases beautiful Meiji-era architecture, offering a glimpse into the lives of the imperial family of that time. The grand hall, in particular, with its tatami mats and chandeliers, is a must-see, representing a stunning blend of Japanese and Western styles. The garden is also beautiful, offering a vibrant display of seasonal flowers. Hinjitsukan is conveniently located near popular Ise-Shima tourist spots such as Ise Grand Shrine and Futami Okitama Shrine. It's a perfect destination for those seeking a relaxing experience steeped in history and culture.
