The "Flower Field in Rice Paddies" in Matsuzaki Town, Shizuoka Prefecture, is a limited-time scenic spot open from mid-February to May 5th every year. Six types of flowers bloom in the vast off-season rice paddies (approximately 30,000 square meters): African marigolds, Nemophila, Cape jewels, Swan River daisies, poppies, and cornflowers, captivating visitors.
Inside the flower field, you'll find realistic scarecrows resembling humans and animals, a flower field shrine (with a flower torii gate), and a foot bath, providing plenty of enjoyment for your stroll.
From late March to early April, you can also enjoy the approximately 6-kilometer-long row of cherry trees (about 1,200 trees) along the Naka River, which attracts many tourists.
Free flower picking is available during Golden Week, from May 1st to 5th. This flower field is mainly funded by donations, and cooperation is being sought to hold the flower field in the coming years.
When visiting Izu in the spring, be sure to stop by this beautiful flower field.
