Funatsu Tainai Jukei is a lava tree mold located in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture. Designated as a national natural monument, it's included in the World Heritage site "Mount Fuji: Sacred Place and Source of Artistic Inspiration". With a total length of 20 meters, it's open to the public.
Funatsu Tainai Jukei was formed when lava from a Mount Fuji eruption encased trees, which subsequently burned away, leaving behind a cave. The interior is a strangely beautiful space resembling a human womb. The adventure of exploring the cave while wearing a helmet is an unforgettable experience. Inside the cave, Konohanasakuya-hime, the goddess associated with Mount Fuji, is enshrined, adding to the mystical atmosphere.
