Ayabeyama Plum Grove sprawls across the summit of Mount Ayabe in Mitsumachi, Tatsuno City, Hyogo Prefecture. Known as one of Western Japan's premier plum groves, its vast 24-hectare expanse bursts into bloom with approximately 20,000 plum blossoms from late February to early March.
Its popularity stems from the incredible panoramic view of the Harima Nada Sea, earning it the moniker, "the plum grove with an ocean view."
Located at an elevation of 144.5 meters, Mount Ayabe boasts well-maintained walking paths leading to the summit. Stroll along these paths and admire the diverse varieties of plum blossoms.
A viewing platform offers magnificent vistas of the Harima Nada Sea's expansive beauty.
In recent years, rapeseed flowers have been cultivated in fallow rice paddies at the foot of the mountain, creating a breathtaking landscape of sprawling yellow fields that bloom concurrently with the plums.
After the plum blossoms fade, a vibrant yellow carpet of rapeseed flowers unfolds, offering a different kind of beauty.
Adding to its charm, Ayabeyama Plum Grove is home to over 20 kofun (ancient burial mounds) dating back to the 5th and 7th centuries, offering a glimpse into the region's rich history.
