Takumi no Sato is a sprawling theme park in Minakami Town, Gunma Prefecture, set amidst a vast satoyama landscape. Spread across approximately 70 Tokyo Domes (330ha), the park features numerous workshops offering hands-on experiences in woodworking, bamboo crafts, and washi (traditional Japanese paper) making, all surrounded by nostalgic rural scenery.
For example, in the woodworking workshops, you can craft wooden trinkets or furniture using locally sourced cedar. Bamboo craft workshops allow you to split and weave bamboo to create baskets or accessories. Washi paper making workshops teach you the traditional techniques of creating paper from the fibers of the kozo plant.
These experiences offer a glimpse into traditional Japanese culture and the joy of craftsmanship. Takumi no Sato also features areas recreating old farmhouses and nature trails for leisurely strolls.
Enjoy delicious meals made with local ingredients. Buckwheat noodles made with 100% homegrown buckwheat flour are highly recommended, along with fresh seasonal vegetables and mountain vegetables.
Takumi no Sato is a theme park for all ages, offering a chance to relax and refresh yourself in a natural setting. Be sure to visit!
