A historical building where you can feel the grandeur of a Meiji-era county government office.
Izushi Meiji-kan is a wooden pseudo-Western-style building constructed in 1887 (Meiji 20) as the former Izushi County Government Office. It's a two-story wooden structure with a single-story section attached to the back, featuring a bright, light-blue wall that reflects the fashion of the time. Elements like the pediment of the front porch and the Corinthian capitals evoke the imposing presence of a Meiji-era county office. The building houses exhibits on the history and culture of Izushi, offering insights into the daily life and society of that era. There's also a rest area and shop, allowing for a relaxing visit. We recommend visiting this site in conjunction with a stroll through the Izushi townscape.
