Aizu Kogen Takatsue Ski Resort, located in Minamiaizu-machi, Minamiaizu-gun, Fukushima Prefecture, is a popular ski resort offering breathtaking views and exciting terrain, including a 1,650m vertical drop and a snowboard park. The powder snow is incredibly smooth and enjoyable to ski on. It's not overly crowded, and the skiers and snowboarders are generally well-mannered, making for a pleasant experience. While navigating the lifts took a bit of getting used to, the summit view from the single lift was absolutely stunning. I visited on the day before closing in March, but I plan to return during peak season next year. The resort offers a well-balanced range of slopes, excellent snow quality, and ample restaurant options. There's a wide range of age groups, and I use it as my home resort every year. I highly recommend the "Jyuunen Tan-tan Men" (ten-year anniversary spicy noodle soup) at the slope-side restaurant! There are also discounts on lift tickets for birthdays, ladies' days, and Children's Day. They even have a grand prize drawing in March where you can win a season pass! I won a few years ago and have used it many times since. It was fantastic! Even near the end of the season, the slopes were well-maintained, allowing for plenty of fun! The pricing is also very family-friendly, which is always appreciated. Thank you to all the staff at Takatsue Ski Resort for your hard work! Visited on weekdays, February 13th and 14th. Lift tickets can be purchased at Seven-Eleven for ¥3800. Weekday rentals are also very affordable at ¥2600. While there are various courses, the lack of clear signage can make it difficult to navigate for first-timers. The summit course accessible by the single lift is like a fun, winding Irohazaka road (referencing the famous mountain pass). It was almost entirely empty, feeling like a private resort, except for a few school groups. The lifts and cafeteria did get crowded at times when these groups were around.
