Shirahige Shrine is located in Hinomi, Kimusari, Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture. Legend says it was built by Taicho Daishi, the founder of the Hakusan faith, at the behest of Emperor Tenmu, who planned to move the capital to Kimusari. The shrine was built to protect the Kimon (north-east) direction. The main hall, designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan, embodies the architectural style of the Momoyama period, exhibiting elegance despite its compact size.
