Sogi-sui is a spring water located in Hachiman-cho, Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture, selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Famous Waters. Its waters have been cherished by the locals for generations. The name Sogi-sui originates from a legend involving the Muromachi period poet, Sogi, and the lord of Shinowaki Castle, Higashi Tsuneyori. It is said that after Sogi received the transmission of the Kokin Wakashū (a collection of classical Japanese poetry) from Higashi Tsuneyori, as he departed for Kyoto, Higashi Tsuneyori presented him with a poem at this spring. This legend is the source of the name "Sogi-sui".
