The Inoue Genzaburo Museum is a privately-owned museum in Hino City, Tokyo, dedicated to Inoue Genzaburo, the captain of the 6th unit of the Shinsengumi. It displays Genzaburo's personal belongings, documents, and photographs—a must-see for any Shinsengumi enthusiast. The museum is run by a descendant of Genzaburo, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The museum showcases Genzaburo's treasured sword, letters, and photos. There's also a comprehensive collection of materials related to the Tennen Rishin-ryu martial arts school Genzaburo studied, offering a glimpse into the martial arts practices of the time. The second floor is a Tennen Rishin-ryu dojo where you can even experience a practice session. The museum also features autographs and photos from those involved in Shinsengumi-related works, making for fascinating viewing. Please note that the museum is open on the first and third Sunday of the month (primarily), so please check beforehand before your visit.
